Football: Sunkiss'd league division one-Northern Dynamo and SMB play dour goalless draw |10 August 2004
The match lacked intensity and goalmouth actions to keep the handful of spectators on the edge of their seats at Stad Linite.
SMB, who were the more enterprising of the two sides, played with a little more purpose and they should have taken the lead in the 33rd minute but Terry Chang-Take-Hue's flicking header blazed over the horizontal bar from point-blank range.
Coach Roger Labonté's SMB again threatened four minutes later but to no avail as Che Dorasamy, formerly with St Louis and the defunct Ascot, inexplicably shoot wide a Joseph Marcelin square pass inside the six yard box.
In the second half, Serge Asba and Colin Laporte went close for SMB in the 49th and 55th minutes before Northern Dynamo's Ivan Telemaque could trouble Kitson Cécile in the SMB goal.
Cécile, formerly with former Airtel Magic Cup champions La Passe, pushed Telemaque's close range effort into corner one minute into injury time to keep the score level.
Northern Dynamo's coach Cliff Nolin told Sports Nation after the match that his "players looked rusty and were not match fit."
As for his opposite number Roger Labonté, he was happy with the point his team picked up against the more experienced Northern Dynamo.
"I am quite happy with the point we earned today (Sunday). Again today our poor finishing let us down. We are going to do our homework so that we can be better prepared for our next game," he said.
After having taken to the field eighth times, SMB are in sixth position on the ten-team league table with nine points.
As for Dynamo they are seventh with a point less.
