Can Agnes Gerry take home the coveted Miss World crown? |27 September 2013
The answer to this question will be known tomorrow when contestants for the Miss World 2013 pageant will catwalk and show off their prowess as real top models on stage on the Indonesian resort island of Bali.
Tomorrow’s final, in Nusa Dua, southern Bali, will last several hours and will see the contestants parade in Indonesian-designed dresses and feature a series of musical performances.
The finalists will take part in rounds including a talent show and a top model contest, face a question and answer round from a panel of judges before being crowned by Miss World 2012 Yu Wenxia of China.
A total 129 contestants will parade in the glittering finale of the three-week event, which will be broadcast live to more than 180 countries including Seychelles.
Local beauty pageant fans will be pleased to know that the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) will be airing the Miss World pageant tomorrow as from 3.30pm and they will be able to see Miss Seychelles … Another World Agnes Gerry parade on stage.
Although Seychelles Nation does not have much information on the Seychellois beauty queen ahead of tomorrow’s coronation, what is clear is the whole country is behind her.
Although there is no hype, no noise about what she is doing and how high are her chances, all those who know this young lady are sure that she has her sight on the Miss World 2013 title just as all the other contestants.
Miss Seychelles... Another World Agnes Gerry left the country earlier this month to take part in the annual beauty pageant.
“When I first arrived in Indonesia I was a little bit scared as I didn't know anyone, but after that I met the other girls in my group, which is group four. We all are very friendly with each other and the girls in my group are from Thailand, Korea, England, New Zealand, Nepal, Mongolia, Botswana, Zambia, and Sri Lanka.
My roommate is the girl from Sri Lanka, she doesn't talk much though,” said Ms Gerry as she described her arrival in Indonesia.
A delegation led by Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) chief executive Sherin Naiken is in Indonesia to show support to Miss Gerry.
While attending the Miss World – Beauty with a purpose pageant, the Seychellois representatives had the chance to attend the Miss World charity lunch and beauty with a purpose auction as well as the Miss World top model final.
Ms Naiken will also meet high government officials in Indonesia to discuss possible tourism cooperation between the two countries.
Indonesia is hosting the Miss World pageant for the first time and this is the first time the pageant will be held in south-east Asia.
After protests from hard-line Muslims threatened to force the pageant out of Indonesia, Miss World organisation chairwoman Julia Morley supported not having a swimsuit competition in Miss World 2013.
