Vijay International School Praslin records 100% pass rate over both IGCSE and A-Level |22 August 2023

Vijay International School Praslin has this year recorded some of its best ever exams results.

Following August’s eagerly anticipated exam news, Vijay International School Praslin (VISP) can boast a 100 percent pass rate over both IGCSE and A-Level exams.

At IGCSE level, 80 percent of all results achieved an A* - C grade, with 31% at A* - A standard.

Seventy-six (76) percent of all year 11 pupils received at least five A - C grades.

These are exceptional achievements.

Emma Labuschagne, one of VISP’s year 11 students, was celebrating after receiving an extremely impressive set of IGCSE results, featuring nine A*s, two As and one B.

“I am incredibly proud of my achievements and grateful for all the amazing guidance and support I have received from my parents, teachers and peers, which enabled me to achieve this success. Congratulations to all my fellow classmates who also did so well. I greatly look forward to my next two years of learning at VISP. I love the natural sciences and would love to study something in that area after my A-Levels,” said Emma Labuschagne.

Amongst a number of very high-achieving students this year was Jason Kass who received a superb set of IGCSE results, and was already looking forward to the future.

“I will be continuing my studies at VISP for the following two years in A-Levels, during which time I hope to excel in all my subjects, allowing me to further my studies at a university,” exclaimed Jason Kass.

Classmate Victoria Rouillon, who achieved high scores in all her exams, reflected on what these IGCSEs meant for her.

Said: Victoria Rouillon: “I am proud to be getting closer and closer to finding my place in the world. Without a doubt, I knew that chemistry and biology would follow me through my tertiary education, and now business and maths have become my additional choices.”

From the 100 percent pass rate at A-Level, 62 percent were graded between A* - C. Eleven (11) percent of all exams achieved the very highest marks of A* - A.

The school is extremely proud of this year’s cohort.

The highest individual achiever was Ingrid Morel, who will be going on to study a BA degree in Tourism and Management at a university in Holland.

The grades achieved by the pupils at VISP have opened up a world of possibilities for further study and employment, with some of the students heading to Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Europe.

A-Level student Anjali Grandcourt was very pleased that the long wait for her first year results was finally over.

“After receiving the exam results, I felt such a great sense of relief from all the waiting and anticipation! Seeing my grades made me feel a sense of satisfaction and I was pleased with the outcome, especially since a lot of time and effort had been dedicated to these exams. I will now go on to complete my second year of A-Levels at VISP. I will put in just as much preparation and dedication to try and achieve even better grades, in the hope that I am able to get into a university I dream of attending,” said Anjali Grandcourt.

Newly appointed head teacher Lesley Thompson, who has been working as part of the management team at the school for the past four years, was extremely proud of all the pupils and staff who had worked so effectively together to achieve such positive results.

“I could not be happier with the school’s results this year. No matter what level each individual has been working at, they have given their absolute best to achieve the very best grades they possibly can. All the staff at VISP have gone above and beyond to give these children the best life chances possible, and alongside our incredibly supportive parents, have contributed so positively to our pupils’ successful school journey,” said Ms Thompson.

She added: “We would love to welcome any prospective students and their parents to come and visit the school so they see for themselves what a wonderful educational provider VISP is.”
