Four doctors, all of them members of the‘Doctors 4 Doctors’association, were yesterday   morning received by President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House.

The four doctors who met with President Ramkalawan were Dr Johanna Rapannarilala, Dr Sanjeev Pugazhendi, Dr Winnie Low-Wah and Dr Sylvie Pool.

Their talks with the head of State centred around the role of the association and also on how to improve the conditions of doctors in order for them to better serve the population.

“We are a fairly new association and our meeting with President Ramkalwan today was to mainly update him about our role and objectives. We also talked about the possible projects that will benefit the country as a whole,”explained Dr Low-Wah who is also the vice-president of the association.

She highlighted that the first project they want to start is the renovation of the on-call room for doctors.

“When the doctors have a better working condition, they will deliver better, thus the importance for them to rest well. Our main goal is to be more productive and economically stable. Both the President and the Ministry of Health are on board with this project,” explained Dr Low-Wah.

The‘Doctors 4 Doctors’ is an association composed mostly of practicing Seychellois doctors. There are some 150 doctors associated with the association and its main objectives are to fight for the interests of our doctors, to provide them the opportunity to further develop professionally and broaden their horizons in terms of communication with major international institutions.

Dr Low-Wah said they were satisfied and encouraged by the positive feedbacks from President Ramkalawan who urged them to continue to give their best in their work.
