Ministry of Health records two new Covid-19 related deaths, over 1000 active cases |01 June 2021
In its most recent update released yesterday evening, the Ministry of Heath has recorded two additional Covid-19 related deaths which brings the total number of deaths to 42.
The country currently has around 1071 active cases of the coronavirus which the health ministry observes is 108 cases fewer than recorded a week ago.
Infection rates between May 23 and May 29 indicates cases are plateauing or leveling off compared to peak Covid-19 cases reported early in May. Over the last week the daily rolling average has stabilised around 110.
Seychelles detected 117 positive cases for May 23, 107 for May 24, 119 for May 25, 117 for May 26, 118 for May 27, 115 for May 28 and 119 for May 29.
As a result the rate of admission at the treatment facilities continues to decrease gradually.
“Most admissions at the main treatment facilities continue to be among non-vaccinated individuals. Almost all the critical and severe cases that require ICU care had not been vaccinated. To date, none of the persons who died with Covid -19 had been fully vaccinated,” the health update concludes.
The cumulative total of persons who have tested positive for Covid-19 since the outbreak has reached 11, 612.
