Two more Covid-19 related deaths |23 March 2021
The Ministry of Health has recorded two new Covid-19 related deaths, one which occurred on Friday March 19, and another earlier in March.
According to an update from the ministry, the latest Covid-19 related death occurred on Friday in a person aged above 80 with underlying medical conditions, while investigations into the death of a person in their mid 50s with serious underlying medical condition which occurred earlier in March 2021 conclude that the cause of death was Covid-19 related, bringing the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to eighteen.
The ministry on Sunday recorded 28 new cases of Covid-19 and a further 30 new cases yesterday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in Seychelles thus far to 3828.
Of the cases recorded on Sunday 18 are Seychellois and 10 foreigners from whom samples were taken on March 19 and 20, while the 30 new cases, comprising 12 Seychellois and 18 foreigners are based from samples taken on March 20 and 21.
As such, the total number of active cases by yesterday stood at 605, while the number of recovered cases stood at 3205.
Forty-eight persons met the discharge criteria yesterday and were released into convalescence.
