Death tally reaches 10 as 71 new cases recorded in four days

 

The number of people in Seychelles whose deaths are Covid-19 related has reached double figures ‒ 10 ‒ after a 78-year-old man passed away yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, 71 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded since the last update bringing the total number of cases recorded in Seychelles to 2,058.

Of the new cases, 12 are from samples taken on February 12, 29 from February 13, 29 from February 14 and one from February 15. All are Seychellois.

Fifty-eight (58) cases (5 foreigners and 53 Seychellois) met discharge criteria yesterday and have been discharged into convalescence.

The Covid-19 related death recorded has brought the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in Seychelles to 10. The 78-year-old with several co-morbid conditions, who was admitted at the Family Hospital on February 4, died at the facility in Perseverance yesterday morning.

Everyone is advised to continue practice the different measures to stop the spread of Covid-19. Keep interactions to immediate households (the persons you live with) only and to not gather in crowds. Other measures to follow:

• Wear a mask in public places and where physical distancing cannot be maintained

• Practise hand hygiene regularly

• Avoid gatherings and crowds

• Avoid sharing objects

• Practise physical distancing of more than 1 metre.
