Next Step supports Stroke Foundation in raising awareness |24 November 2020
To show its support for the Seychelles Stroke Foundation in raising awareness of the increasing health concern, the Next Step group was on Praslin and La Digue recently to help increase public awareness on the problem.
On Monday November 9 members of the group led by singer Sonny Dogley were at Grand Anse Praslin health centre where they gave away leaflets, rubber bracelets and displayed on large banner messages on stroke, how to detect it and how to react to its early symptoms to save someone’s life.
On November 10 the Next Step group was at the STC Supermarket on La Digue and on Friday November 13 the group was at the Baie Ste Anne Hospital on Praslin.
Dogley said it is important that the group plays its part to help raise awareness of the problem which is increasing and killing as well as disabling our people.
“Like it was explained on Bonzour Sesel last Friday, our health is our responsibility and there is a lot we can do to improve it in order to prevent stroke and these include frequent exercise, reduce alcohol intake and smoking and to eat healthily,” said Dogley.
He noted that very often people do not pay attention to these things until they end up sick and this is why it is important to constantly remind them that we endanger our health if we do not act responsibly.
Dogley said they would like to do more awareness campaigns but as their financial resources are limited this is as much as they can do.
He said members of the group are very grateful and express heartfelt gratitude to the few people and companies who still believe in them and always help them in their awareness campaigns and with their fares to travel to the two islands.
The Next Step group’s next awareness campaign will be for Aids Day on December 1.
Dogley said any person, companies or businesses who would like to support them in any way or would like the group to help them with any awareness activities to get in touch with them on 2541516.
