Covid-19 - 1,116,321 confirmed cases recorded in Africa |15 September 2020
Currently in the world 28,637,952 confirmed cases of Covid-19 including 917,417 deaths have been reported to WHO.
1,116,321 confirmed cases have been recorded in Africa with more than 32,000 deaths.
Our neighbour, South Africa, is the most affected one in the region.
Efforts by all governments are ongoing to try to contain this virus and we have seen a significant drop in positive cases in the last few days.
We present you the situation in some of the African countries as published by the World Health Organisation on September 13.
South Africa: 648,214 cumulative cases, representing 58.39 % of all the cases in the region, and an attack rate of 1143.28 per 100 000 population.15,427 deaths with a CFR of 2.38%.576,423 recovered, representing 88.92% of cases.56,364 active cases.
Ethiopia: 63,888 cumulative cases, representing 5.75 % of all the cases in the region, and an attack rate of 56.62 per 100 000 population. 996 deaths with a CFR of 1.56%. 24,493 recovered, representing 38.34% of cases. 38,399 active cases.
Kenya: 35,963 cumulative cases, representing 3.24 % of all the cases in the region, and an attack rate of 68.74 per 100 000 population. 619 deaths with a CFR of 1.72%. 22,771 recovered, representing 63.32% of cases. 12,573 active cases.
Madagascar: 15,737 cumulative cases, representing 1.42 % of all the cases in the region, and an attack rate of 56.61 per 100 000 population. 210 deaths with a CFR of 1.33%. 14,349 recovered, representing 91.18% of cases. 1,178 active cases.
Uganda: 4,703 cumulative cases, representing 0.42 % of all the cases in the region, and an attack rate of 9.59 per 100 000 population. 52 deaths with a CFR of 1.11%. 2,203 recovered, representing 46.84% of cases. 2,448 active cases.
Botswana: 2,252 cumulative cases, representing 0.2 % of all the cases in the region, and an attack rate of 91.93 per 100 000 population. 10 deaths with a CFR of 0.44%. 546 recovered, representing 24.25% of cases. 1,696 active cases.
United Republic of Tanzania: 509 cumulative cases, representing 0.05 % of all the cases in the region, and an attack rate of 0.79 per 100 000 population. 21 deaths with a CFR of 4.13%. 180 recovered, representing 35.36% of cases. 308 active cases.
Comoros: 456 cumulative cases, representing 0.04 % of all the cases in the region, and an attack rate of 51.63 per 100 000 population. 7 deaths with a CFR of 1.54%. 417 recovered, representing 91.45% of cases. 32 active cases.
Mauritius: 361 cumulative cases, representing 0.03 % of all the cases in the region, and an attack rate of 27.95 per 100 000 population. 10 deaths with a CFR of 2.77%. 337 recovered, representing 93.35% of cases. 14 active cases.
Seychelles: 135 cumulative cases, representing 0.01 % of all the cases in the region, and an attack rate of 136.52 per 100 000 population. 0 deaths with a CFR of 0%. 135 recovered, representing 100% of cases. 0 active cases.
