Coach Harold Hoareau hoping for more cup success this weekend

‘We must go for the double,’ says Foresters coach

The head coach of newly crowned SeyPearl premier league side Foresters, Harold Hoareau, has revealed that his team will be going all out for the double this Saturday when they face Côte d’Or in the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) Cup.

Speaking to Sports NATION prior to the big match, the Foresters coach said that his team must grab this chance of a lifetime to make history for this Mont Fleuri-based club who has never reached this stage since their existence but rather has been in the doldrums and struggling to stay in the top flight.

“At this stage, we cannot let this opportunity go by as we are in a really strong position to achieve the double and winning this cup will complete a remarkable season for this team who already have performed beyond our wildest dream by winning the league which is a new territory for some of these players who have been used to fighting for survival and personally for me, winning the double will be a major accomplishment in my coaching career as it will place me among the top local coaches though I will always remain humble and keep working hard on the field for better results,” the Foresters coach related to Sports NATION.

The Foresters coach is more happy that this year his team finally won the league crown after missing out on two cups last season while he was head coach with Red Star-Defence Forces who lost in the final of the Airtel cup to LightStars and then surrendered the league crown to Côte d’Or which forced him to change scenery and join Foresters where he brought eight of his players to this Mont Fleuri based squad.

“The team has gelled well in only one season and I must single out our current captain Jean Tigana who has been a tower of strength and inspiration throughout the season with his never say die attitude and I feel he would be a deserved winner of the best footballer award and this is why I gave him the captain’s armband in the latter stage of the season as he is a good leader and shows great maturity on the pitch,” claimed coach Hoareau.

In fact coach Hoareau is favourite to win the best coach award for 2019-2020 season and surely Tigana will be one of the top contenders for the best footballer award more so if he can lead his club to the league and cup double on Saturday in the SFF Cup final.
