Seychelles’ e-invoicing push: What real-time tax reporting could mean for businesses and government revenue

For most businesses, an invoice is a routine administrative document: a record of a transaction, a bill for a customer and, eventually, an entry in a tax return. Seychelles’ planned electronic invoicing system could significantly change that role.
The country is preparing to introduce an automated, real-time e-invoicing system linking taxpayers’ electronic billing systems directly with the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC). Rather than relying primarily on information submitted after transactions occur, the system could provide the tax authority with near real-time visibility of economic activity and Value Added Tax (VAT) obligations.
