Seychelles champions marine biodiversity and ocean governance

Seychelles recently participated in two important regional meetings held back‑to‑back in Zanzibar, Tanzania, reaffirming its commitment to marine biodiversity conservation, sustainable ocean governance and regional cooperation in the Western Indian Ocean.

The Seychelles delegation first joined the Regional Consultation Meeting on the Development of a Regional BBNJ Vision and Implementation Framework, focusing on collective implementation of the BBNJ Agreement, which provides a global framework for conserving and sustainably using marine biological diversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction.
