Preventing FASD is a shared responsibility’ - Apdar

 

“The Agency for the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Rehabilitation (Apdar) joins the international community in commemorating International Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Awareness Day, observed annually on September 9. The ninth day of the ninth month symbolises the nine months of pregnancy.

“Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is an umbrella term used to describe a range of lifelong physical, behavioural, learning and developmental difficulties that may occur when an unborn child is exposed to alcohol during pregnancy. These effects can significantly affect the child, the family and the wider community.
