Rekindling the spirit of solidarity
Seychelles has a long tradition of people helping one another, and the Ceps Volunteer Awards are seeking to keep that spirit alive by recognising those who continue to give their time and energy to their communities. Associations and individuals have till the end of September to nominate someone or an organisation.
The Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (Ceps) will once again shine a spotlight on individuals and organisations whose voluntary work has made a meaningful difference in the lives of others, with the fifth Ceps Volunteer Awards scheduled for December 5, 2026.
Volunteerism is not new to Seychelles. Its roots can be traced back to the slavery era, when community members relied on one another for support with farming, animal rearing, childminding and demanding construction work.
