When books become wings

 Why a reading culture could change the future of our children – and our society.

What happens to a generation when it stops reading?

Perhaps the answer is already sitting quietly in our classrooms.

As a teacher, I have watched young minds light up when they discover the magic of a good book. I have also watched the opposite – the struggle to express an idea, the shrinking vocabulary, the difficulty in concentrating, and the reluctance to think beyond what has been taught.

It is a reality we cannot afford to ignore.
