• SALT emerges as a voice for a kinder, more supportive Seychelles
In Seychelles, everyday frustrations – confusing procedures, inaccessible facilities, long waits, unclear information, or overlooked social needs – often go unnoticed in the headlines. A new association, the Shine A Light Team (SALT), aims to change that.
A think tank for social development
Founded in 2022, SALT describes itself as a small, specialised social‑development think tank. Its philosophy is simple: positive change does not always begin with sweeping reforms. Sometimes it starts by noticing what isn’t working, asking why, and encouraging practical solutions.
Chairperson Dr Janick Brû‑Rosalie explains:
“Basically, we categorise ourselves as a think tank... We don’t get involved directly but we put ideas across, not just in formal ways but also in informal ways.”
SALT’s role is not to provide every solution but to stimulate discussion, highlight overlooked issues, and encourage those with authority or expertise to act.
