Red Cross Seychelles expands pool of first aid instructors
By Anika Cathene
The Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) has strengthened its pool of first aid instructors through a five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) programme, held at the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) Training Academy at Perseverance. The course has brought together RCSS staff and volunteers, representatives from the SDF, and the Ministry of Local Government & Inner Islands.
Facilitated by two experienced trainers from the Plateforme d’Intervention Régionale de l’Océan Indien (PIROI), the programme equipped 12 participants with the knowledge, practical skills, and teaching techniques required to become certified first aid instructors.
Upon completion, participants will be able to deliver first aid training to staff, volunteers, schools, communities, and other groups across Seychelles. The training combined theoretical and practical sessions, with emphasis on both first aid competencies and effective teaching methodologies. Certificates will be awarded to those who successfully meet programme requirements.
