Commission hears testimony on prison riot deaths
Detective Inspector Jim-Roy Jeannevol and Superintendent Peter Dacumbra of the Seychelles Police Force testified in open session yesterday before the Commission of Inquiry into the Montagne Posée prison events of December 5 - 6, 2024.
Testimony of Inspector Jim-Roy Jeannevol
Inspector Jeannevol explained that the investigation, divided into three separate cases, has been completed. However, the case file submitted to the Attorney General’s Office was recently returned to the police due to the Commission’s ongoing inquiry into the incident.
He stated that:
- 18 inmates were identified as suspects for unlawful acts involving property destruction.
- Four law enforcement officers were identified as suspects in the alleged murder of inmate Gerry Mathiot.
- Five officers were identified as suspects in the alleged murder of inmate Francis Ernesta.
