Commission reviews autopsy findings in prison riot case

After a two-week recess, the Commission of Inquiry into the Montagne Posée prison riot of December 5–6, 2024 reconvened to continue hearings and investigations. The sessions, scheduled to run until June 30, will focus largely on oversight institutions and their role in the incident.
The first witness called was forensic pathologist Dr Lander Betancourt, who has 36 years of professional experience and has served with the Ministry of Health for the past three years. His testimony included detailed evidence from the post-mortem examinations of inmates Gerry Mathiot and Francis Ernesta, supported by photographs and medical reports.
