Biosecurity management on Mahé: Protecting Assomption and Aldabra

 

Biosecurity remains one of Seychelles’ strongest lines of defence against invasive alien species, and the Seychelles Islands Foundation (SIF) continues to maintain rigorous measures to protect the sensitive ecosystems of Aldabra and Assomption. With Mahé serving as the main transit point for cargo, supplies and passengers travelling to the outer islands, strict inspection procedures are carried out at both the Seychelles International Airport and the Islands Development Company (IDC) jetty to minimise any risk of accidental introductions.
