Heavy downpours are a natural part of life in a tropical paradise like the Seychelles. For generations, our lush island mountains and flowing streams naturally absorbed these sudden rainstorms, acting like a giant sponge that cushioned our homes and coastlines. But today, dense concrete development, stripped riverbanks, and a general neglect for the living creatures inside our rivers have left local communities increasingly vulnerable to severe floods and water.
