Living wage in Seychelles: A new benchmark or a new challenge?

The recent approval by Cabinet of a proposal to introduce a Living Wage framework for Seychelles marks a potentially significant shift in how the country approaches wages, household income and economic well-being.

At first glance, the concept appears straightforward. The exercise, which will be led by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning, Trade and Investment with support from the International Labour Organisation (ILO), seeks to determine what level of income is actually required for a worker and their family to attain a decent standard of living in Seychelles.
