World Environment Day 2026 |05 June 2026

Minister Jeremie urges collective action for a greener future

“Today, as Seychelles joins the rest of the world in celebrating World Environment Day 2026, we are reminded of the invaluable role that nature plays in sustaining life, supporting our economy, and shaping our identity as an island nation.

“This year's theme, ‘Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future’, calls upon us to recognise that nature is not only increasingly threatened by climate change, but that it also provides some of the most effective solutions for addressing the climate crisis. From our coral reefs and mangroves to our forests and seagrass meadows, nature protects our shores, stores carbon, supports biodiversity, and sustains the livelihoods of our people.
