IECD launches national initiative to strengthen speech and language skills in young children
Children with speech and language difficulties will now receive targeted support thanks to a new national initiative launched by the Institute for Early Childhood Development (IECD).
The project, unveiled by IECD chairman Dr Javier Rose during a ceremony at the Seychelles Institute for Teacher Education (SITE) on International Children’s Day, aims to address communication challenges among children aged 3 to 5 identified as performing below expected levels in the Early Learning Readiness Assessment (ELRA).
Present at the launch were Minister for Social Affairs, Family and Equality Pamela Charlette, IECD CEO Shirley Choppy, board members, representatives from the Office of the First Lady, principal secretaries, school leaders, ECCE representatives, parents, and other distinguished guests.
