Reduction in domestic passenger port fees effective today

Local travellers using inter-island ferry services will pay lower passenger port fees as of today, June 1.

This follows a decision by the Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA) to reduce the charges by 50 percent.

In an addendum press release issued on Saturday, May 30, SPA provided further details on the revised fees that will apply to Seychellois passengers travelling between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.

The reduction follows an earlier announcement made by the authority on May 19.

Under the new fee structure, passengers travelling between Mahé and Praslin, Mahé and La Digue, as well as on the return journeys, will now pay R12 instead of the previous R25 passenger port fee.

For travel between Praslin and La Digue, the fee has been reduced from R15 to R8 in both directions.

The revised fees are as follows:

  •         Mahé to Praslin: R12 (previously R25)
  •         Mahé to La Digue: R12 (previously R25)
  •         Praslin to La Digue: R8 (previously R15)
  •         Praslin to Mahé: R12 (previously R25)
  •         La Digue to Mahé: R12 (previously R25)
  •         La Digue to Praslin: R8 (previously R15)

SPA clarified that the revised rates apply only to local passengers.

“The revised fees are not applicable for non-Seychellois passengers which shall remain as currently,” the authority stated.

The reduction is expected to benefit many residents who regularly travel between the three main islands for work, education, business, medical appointments and family commitments.

In its statement, SPA said it remains committed to improving accessibility and affordability for domestic travellers while continuing to enhance port services.

“SPA thanks the public and stakeholders for their understanding and remains committed to enhancing the travel experience for all domestic passengers at affordable cost,” the authority said.
