The vast majority of Seychellois are aware of climate change, with most saying it is making life in the country worse and calling for urgent action, according to a new Afrobarometer survey.
The survey, released on May 18 in Afrobarometer Dispatch No. 1185, found that 91 percent of Seychellois have heard about climate change, while 77 percent of those aware of the issue believe it is making life in Seychelles “somewhat worse” or “much worse”.
The findings are based on face-to-face interviews conducted in May 2025 with a sample of 1,200 adult Seychellois. Afrobarometer noted that the survey has a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.
