Seychelles extends warm greetings to Europe

“On behalf of the government and people of Seychelles, I extend warm greetings and congratulations to the people of Europe on the occasion of Europe Day.

“Europe Day commemorates the historic Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundation for lasting peace, unity, and cooperation across Europe. Today, it continues to serve as an important reminder of the value of dialogue, solidarity, and shared responsibility in addressing global challenges.

“As a small island developing state (Sids) in the Indian Ocean, Seychelles values its longstanding partnership with Europe which has developed over nearly five decades. Our cooperation has spanned across key areas, such as climate resilience, ocean governance, maritime security, trade, and development. We also recognise the European Union’s consistent support during our moments of crisis, and the efforts undertaken to strengthen the national disaster and emergency response.

“As global conflicts and environmental challenges continue to test collective resilience, we reaffirm our commitment to working with the European institutions, all European countries and other international partners to uphold international law, promote peace and security, and advance sustainable development.
