Committee flags major audit issues across key institutions

Three more governmental entities appeared before the Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) of the National Assembly yesterday, where members raised concerns over findings highlighted in the Auditor General’s 2024 report.
Registration Division
The first entity to appear was the registration division, represented by Deputy Registrar General Suleiman Athanasius, Head of Accounts Kieven Morel, and Director of Human Resource and Finance Saalimah Yusuf.
The audit revealed a discrepancy of R6,281,895 between revenue collections recorded in the cashier’s module and the Treasury general ledger, with no explanation provided. Hon. Georges Romain questioned what investigations had been carried out and what measures were in place to prevent duplication of invoices and receipts.
