International Firefighters’ Day |05 May 2026
President Herminie commends firefighters’ bravery and service
“As we join the rest of the world in observing International Firefighters’ Day, I extend my sincere appreciation and profound respect to all firefighters across our nation. Across our islands, you stand as steadfast guardians responding to every call with courage, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to protecting lives and communities.
“Your bravery, dedication and readiness to serve in the face of danger reflect the very highest ideals of public service. Each call you answer, each life you protect and each risk you take embodies true heroism and selflessness, strengthening our resilience as a nation.
“As we mark this important day, I recognise the sacrifices you and your families make. Let this also serve as a reminder to all citizens to heed safety guidance, take preventive measures seriously and work in partnership with our firefighters to reduce risk within our homes and communities. A safer Seychelles is a shared responsibility.
“On behalf of the nation, I thank you for your invaluable service and wish you continued strength, courage and protection in all your duties.”
Dr Patrick Herminie
President of the Republic of Seychelles
