Seychelles at 50: A nation united in celebration

Seychelles will come alive in 2026 as it celebrates the 50th anniversary of independence under the theme “Nou Pep, Nou Lidantite, Nou Desten” (Our People, Our Identity, Our Destiny). A vibrant calendar of events spanning several months will showcase the nation’s culture, heritage, achievements, and unity.

The festivities began in April with heritage and environmental activities, including the national fishing competition on April 18, reflecting Seychelles’ deep connection to the ocean.

May brings the Jubilee Lottery launch (May 8), the Legacy Dive Site event (May 9), and an island-wide clean-up (May 28–30) to preserve the nation’s natural beauty.
