From diplomacy to crime fiction: Carlisle Richardson discusses new crime thriller book, ‘The Soft Underbelly’

A new crime thriller set in the Caribbean is set to reach readers soon, and its author hopes it will also find an audience in Seychelles. Carlisle Richardson, a former diplomat from St Kitts and Nevis, will publish his debut novel ‘The Soft Underbelly’ on June 1 through Hansib Publications.

Drawing on his years in diplomacy, including serving as his country’s ambassador to the United Nations, Mr Richardson brings a story shaped by political intrigue, international tensions and crime beneath the surface of island life. Set in a fictional Caribbean state, ‘The Soft Underbelly’ follows a local police officer and a British intelligence agent as they investigate a murder that gradually reveals a wider plot involving corruption, weapons trafficking and a potential political crisis.
