Tamil New Year celebrations marked by traditional folk performances

This year, in celebration of the Tamil New Year which was on April 14, the Seychelles Hindu Kovil Sangam hosted a slew of vibrant performances as part of their final two-day celebration, where a group of traditional folk artists from India performed a cultural programme for the larger Seychellois public.
The two-hour event took place yesterday evening at the car park opposite the Sri Navasakthi Vinyagar Aalayam (Hindu Temple) and was attended by the Mayor of Victoria, Josy Michaud-Payet, as well as the general Tamil community and a few Seychellois passersby.
