The Fiennes Esplanade – preserving its old seawall and other historic features |18 April 2026

On the occasion of the International Day of Monuments and Sites, celebrated annually on April 18, Icomos Seychelles is pleased to announce the launch of its contribution towards promoting and preserving certain historic features of the Fiennes Esplanade. These will include improving protection to the old seawall which to this day has remained one of the historic landmarks of Victoria’s past shoreline. It is planned that the project, which will start shortly but to continue over coming months, will also promote public and visitor interest through the upgrading of board displays, signage and labelling along the main Esplanade area itself.
