The Office of the President has announced a series of senior appointments within the public service, alongside an institutional realignment to strengthen governance and public administration.
Following the establishment of the position of Secretary of State for Cabinet Affairs and Civil Service, held by Margaret Moumou, the post of chief secretary has been reclassified as principal secretary for the Department of Public Administration (DPA). This change is part of ongoing efforts to streamline leadership structures and enhance coordination across the civil service.
In line with this reclassification, the incumbent chief secretary, Shella Mohideen, will take up the position of Dean at the University of Seychelles. In her new role, Ms Mohideen will bring her extensive experience in tertiary education and training to support the ongoing review and strengthening of the university.
Fatime Kanté, who previously served as principal secretary for Youth and Sports, has been appointed as principal secretary for the Department of Public Administration. Marc Arissol, chief executive of the National Sports Council, has been appointed as principal secretary for Youth and Sports. A new chief executive officer for the National Sports Council will be announced promptly.
All appointments take effect from April 1, 2026.
President Patrick Herminie has expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to all officers for their dedicated service in their previous roles and extended his best wishes for success in their new responsibilities.
