Commission of inquiry into CCCL explosion officially sworn in

The three members of the newly established Commission of Inquiry into the Civil Construction Company Limited incident which occurred on December 7, 2023, were officially sworn in during a brief ceremony held at State House yesterday morning.
The ceremony took place in the presence of President Patrick Herminie and Vice-President Sebastien Pillay.
The commission will be chaired by Justice Nicola Sharpe-Phiri, accompanied by Guy Roucou and Dora Zatte. The body has been tasked with investigating the causes and sequences of events leading to the explosion by examining the adequacy and legality of the response by authorities, provide clarity and accountability for affected residents, businesses and the broader public. It will offer recommendations to prevent similar incidents and to improve emergency preparedness.
