Galatea, the boat that sank early yesterday morning in waters near Marie-Louise Island

Four people have been reported missing after a vessel sank early yesterday morning in waters near Marie-Louise Island, according to authorities.

In a notice issued on March 13, 2026, the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority (SMSA) said the vessel, Galatea, was reported to have sunk at around 5:37am. The incident reportedly occurred at the position 06°22.55’S – 053°02.289’E.
