Foreign Affairs protocol officer testifies
The Commission of Inquiry into the lease and development of Assomption Island heard testimony from two witnesses yesterday, including a senior protocol officer from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora who provided details about official travels undertaken by former President Wavel Ramkalawan.
Channel Quatre, who serves as the ministry’s senior protocol officer, told the commission that the protocol office at the ministry is responsible for state protocol matters, including coordination and communication with other countries on behalf of the government. He explained that this differs from the protocol unit at the State House, which mainly handles presidential affairs.
