Suleiman Athanasius named deputy Registrar General

 

The Office of the President has today announced the appointment of Suleiman Salim Athanasius as deputy Registrar General, effective March 9, 2026.

Mr Athanasius currently serves as principal registration officer within the Registration Division of the Registrar General’s Office, where he plays a key leadership role in overseeing the operations of several core registries, including land and mortgage registrations, companies, business names, associations, intellectual property, and compliance.

He brings extensive experience in legal administration and regulatory compliance, with over eight years of professional experience in corporate and legal environments. In his current role, Mr Athanasius has been responsible for supporting strategic planning, ensuring compliance with key national legislation, and contributing to policy and legislative reviews.

Mr Athanasius also holds a Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance from the International Compliance Association, and has undertaken specialised training in anti-money laundering and asset management coordination.

In addition to his professional duties, he serves as a board member of the Industrial Estate Authority and is a member of the National Technical Committee for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT), contributing to national efforts to strengthen governance and regulatory oversight.

The Office of the President congratulates Mr Athanasius on his appointment and wishes him every success in the discharge of his duties in supporting the work of the Registrar General’s Office.
