Government plans Coast Guard base expansion on Assomption
The government has provided more details about plans to expand the existing Coast Guard base on Assomption Island, aimed at strengthening maritime security and protecting Seychelles’ sovereignty.
The information was shared during a press conference held yesterday morning at the Ministry of Finance headquarters, Liberty House, Victoria.
The briefing followed President Patrick Herminie’s recent official visit to India earlier this month, during which Seychelles and India agreed to collaborate on enhancing maritime security in the region. The two governments agreed to work together on the construction of a Coast Guard base on Assomption Island to improve national security and operational reach.
