Government maintains prohibition on the development on Assomption Island

There has been no construction activity on Assomption Island to date, according to the Minister for Environment, Climate, Energy and Natural Resources, Marie-May Jeremie.
She made the statement during a press conference held yesterday at the ministry’s headquarters, Oliaji building. Minister Jeremie explained that in November 2025, the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Energy and Natural Resources (MECENR) issued a prohibition notice concerning the development on Assomption Island. This was followed by a stop notice from the Seychelles Planning Authority. Since then, no development work has taken place on the island.
