Ministry of Education sets tone for new academic year |17 January 2026

The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development has outlined a clear vision for the new academic year, emphasising discipline, accountability, leadership, and stronger support for schools and professional centres.

Delivering the message on Thursday, January 15, Minister David Pierre addressed headteachers and directors of professional centres, describing the meeting as an important starting point for the year ahead.

He stressed the need for “clarity of purpose, unity of direction, and a renewed sense of responsibility” across the sector.

“Our schools and professional centres are not operating in isolation; together, they form one integrated ecosystem. What happens in our classrooms today shapes the workforce and society of tomorrow,” he said.
