Leadership, diplomacy, and democratic transition in Seychelles
The year 2025 was a landmark period for Seychelles, defined by President Wavel Ramkalawan’s active engagement in national development and international diplomacy, culminating in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in September and October. These elections reaffirmed the country’s democratic traditions and ushered in Dr Patrick Herminie as the sixth President, ensuring a peaceful and seamless transfer of power. Amid this transition, Seychelles advanced key projects in infrastructure, social development, and sustainability, reflecting both continuity and progress in governance.
