President Herminie pledges to create an enabling environment for IECD-Unesco Category 2 Institute

Head of State, President Patrick Herminie, yesterday met with the delegation of the Institute of Early Childhood Development (IECD), Unesco Category 2 Institute, to discuss strategic initiatives aimed at transforming early childhood development both nationally and internationally.

Present were Dr Mmantsetsa Marope, chairperson of the governing board of the Institute of Early Childhood Development’s (IECD) Unesco Category 2 Institute, IECD’s chief executive Shirley Choppy, and Captain David Savy, a member of the governing board.

During the meeting, the President conveyed his strong support for the institute’s endeavours and commended them for its excellent work.

He further pledged to mobilise the necessary resources, implement policy reforms, and provide institutional support to advance the institute’s mission and maximise its impact.

Discussions focused on accelerating infrastructure development, strengthening governance, and integrating social-emotional learning into the education system, measures that will foster better support and development for young children.
