Seychelles Karting crowns 2025 champions and celebrates FIA Volunteers & Officials Month
Champions Park Raceway came alive last weekend as Seychelles Karting began crowning its 2025 champions during Round 8 of the CSA Trading Seychelles Karting National Championship, held from October 4–5.
Saturday’s action kicked off with the Honda Cadets, where the atmosphere was charged with excitement and fierce determination.
The young racers – Joshua Cosgrow, Nathan Nicette, and Noah Moulinie – delivered a thrilling showdown that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
Drama unfolded early in the Pre-Final, as Hailey Benoiton and Loic Raoul tangled on track, while Alexander Benoiton impressed with steady, lap-by-lap improvements, achieving his first championship finish since being promoted from the Academy Bambino class.
The Final saw intense battles across the field, with Dwayne Seth and Loic duelling wheel-to-wheel.
At the front, Joshua, Noah, and Nathan led the charge with Joshua ultimately claiming victory, Noah finishing second, and Nathan third.
Hailey held off Loic for fourth, followed by Alexander in sixth and Dwayne in seventh.
The win secured Joshua Cosgrow’s third championship title since joining karting, a remarkable achievement for the young driver.
Following the Cadet races, the spotlight turned to the Academy Bambinos, who took to the circuit for their first-ever time trials and on-track assessments.
The group of seven promising newcomers each aiming to progress to the Cadet class in 2026 showcased their developing skills under the watchful eyes of Clerk of the Course, George Delcy, and SKA Motorsport Commissioner Dave René.
It was a successful and encouraging day, with D’Shawn Anamole clocking the fastest lap at 46.908 seconds, followed closely by Hervais Fred, Emma Liu Chit Chion, Harrynio Jumaye, Micah Radegonde, and Gabriel Nancy.
All Academy Bambinos will now prepare to sit for their proficiency exams on October 25, 2025, which will grant them their official racing licenses.
The weekend also marked the local launch of the FIA Volunteers and Officials Month Campaign, run globally by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).
This year’s theme celebrates the individuals who make motorsport possible – the dedicated officials and volunteers who keep races safe, fair, and fun.
In line with this, Seychelles Karting placed the spotlight on its own officials.
During Saturday’s event, the Honda Cadet drivers were given the honour of selecting their “Official of the Day.”
They proudly chose Terence Anderson, recognising his consistent support, dedication to the drivers, and commitment to the motorsport community.
As part of the FIA campaign, the Seychelles Karting Association (SKA) will nominate standout local officials for consideration in the FIA Volunteers and Officials Awards 2025, with global winners to be announced at the prestigious FIA Prize-Giving Ceremony in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, this December.
Meanwhile, the drivers’ results from Round 8 will now be reflected in their FIA Karting National Ranking, showcasing their growing performance and consistency at an international level. To further recognise achievement and dedication, three FIA medals are expected to be awarded later this year as part of the national programme honouring drivers nominated by the ASN for their exceptional performance and sportsmanship throughout the 2025 season.
