Seychelles charts course for African Championship with SSL training

Four African nations are currently training in Seychelles under the Star Sailors League development programme, with the initiative seen as an important step towards strengthening sailing across the continent and laying the groundwork for a possible African Championship next year.

Seychelles team captain and Olympian Allan Julie says the country is targeting the organisation of an African Championship in August next year, as efforts continue to develop the sport and bring more African nations into the international sailing arena.

“We are looking at having an African Championship next year in August,” Julie said, explaining that one of the priorities is to ensure that more African countries have access to the boats and resources needed to compete.
