Mini-health fair brings wellness and awareness to St Louis community

The St Louis community centre was transformed into a hub of health and wellness on Saturday as Patient Solidarity (formerly known as the Seychelles Patients Association) hosted a vibrant mini-health fair in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs.

Despite intermittent rainfall, the event drew a steady stream of participants eager to take advantage of the range of free health services and educational sessions on offer. Attendees benefitted from on-site health screenings, including eye exams, oral health checks, and hearing assessments – all delivered by qualified health professionals.

The day also featured informative health talks, which addressed various wellness topics with a particular emphasis on preventative care and healthy lifestyle habits.

The event culminated in a lively physical activity session, complete with energising music, in support of the national obesity reduction campaign.

Adding to the significance of the event, the member of the National Assembly for St Louis, Sathya Naidu, was present to lend his support. In a brief but inspiring address, Mr Naidu praised the initiative and encouraged continued community engagement in health promotion efforts.

Organisers noted that the fair received an overwhelmingly positive response from those present, with many community members calling for similar initiatives in the near future.

“This kind of grassroots outreach is exactly what we need to promote healthier lifestyles and empower people to take control of their well-being,” said the spokesperson for Patient Solidarity.

Plans are already in discussion for future events, potentially expanding services and including more community-focused wellness activities, rain or shine.
