Message from SUM leader on the occasion of Constitution Day |17 June 2025
‘The power to shape our nation’s future lies with you, the Seychellois people’
“On this Constitution Day, we gather to honour the cornerstone of our democracy, the Constitution of Seychelles. This document is more than a set of laws; it is the embodiment of our shared values, our rights, and our vision for a united and just nation. Today, we reflect on its significance and recommit to protecting its integrity for all Seychellois.
“As the leader of the Seychelles United Movement (SUM) and your presidential candidate in the election on September 27, 2025, I stand before you with a message of unity, hope, and determination. Under the LDS administration and President Wavel Ramkalawan, our Constitution has been repeatedly amended without the consent of the people, often against our collective will. These changes have been made to consolidate power, placing the interests of a few above the rights of the many. This is not the democracy we cherish.
