Electoral Commission gets new member

Marie Bernadette Furneau was sworn in as the new Electoral Commissioner of Seychelles yesterday morning during a ceremony at State House, officiated by the Head of State, President Wavel Ramkalawan.
Mrs Furneau takes up the post vacated by Wendy Didon who was appointed as the chairperson of the commission in March 2025.
During this ceremony, Mrs Furneau took the Oath of Allegiance to the Constitution and the official oath, in the presence of her daughter, First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, among other guests.
In an interview with the media Mrs Furneau shared that she felt ready to join such a team considering its election year. “I feel that I can make a signigicant contribution.”
Mrs Furneau shared that she is not new to this field as she has been involved with past elections as an assistant electoral officer. “What is more important is that I work with integrity,” she stated.
