Celebrating biodiversity day with a roadshow

A roadshow under the theme ‘Harmony with nature and sustainable development’ was the main event on Mahé to mark this year’s International Biodiversity Day.
Hosted by the Biodiversity conservation management division on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment the event at Camion Hall was an interactive experience showcasing various organisations’ incredible work towards a more sustainable future.
Present at the launch was the Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment, Flavien Joubert, and the principal secretary for Environment, Denis Matatiken.
In his opening remarks Minister Joubert shared that biodiversity is declining globally with more and more species at risk of extinction. Seychelles has not been spared, with 477 species considered as threatened on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red list.
