The handover of the donation yesterday took place during a ceremony to officially launch a three-week forest firefighting training, and was accepted by Praslin-based assistant divisional officer, Peter Cherry, who also heads the station on the island.

Present at the ceremony, which was held at the Praslin station on Ile Eve, were the Minister for Internal Affairs, Errol Fonseka; principal secretary for environment, Denis Matatiken; maritime advisor to the government of Seychelles, Lieutenant-commander Timothée Sevaistre, who is also the French liaison officer at the regional coordinator operations centre; chief fire officer Tally Domingue; deputy chief fire officer Jones Madeleine; district administrator for the Grand Anse Praslin district, Chantal Laure; high officials from the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency (SFRSA) and from other agencies.
